Alpaugh Bible
The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments,
...With Canne's Marginal Notes & References... Rochester,
N.Y., Wanzer Foote & Co., 1851. Not in Hills, but similar
to 1850-dated #1424. I have never seen another from this
publisher; it must be fairly rare. Hills lists no other
versions from this publisher.
This Bible is in fair condition. The spine is about half
there, and both covers are off. The pages appear to be in
good shape and all there, but they have major foxing due
to the quality of paper used.
This is another Bible that is distantly related to me, if I
took my family tree out far enough. Elizabeth Emery was
a Rockafeller descendant from Hunterdon County, NJ. The
Woolverton, Runyon and Rockafellers in that area intermarried
extensively.
There is a beautiful clipping of a poem in this Bible, "Baby
in the Doorway".
